The Sanctuary is part of an on going series of pieces that revolve around recurring images of past events in my life, from early childhood to present. Strangely haunted by what I refer to as Selective Memory, the same images have been constantly reemerging in my mind for years and I appear to be stuck with this hand full that continue to haunt me regularly on a daily basis. The Sanctuary does not reference a specific event, however some of the work in the series Selective Memory does comes from very specific events, this one is driven by general memories of growing up a preachers kid in small town Texas and just exactly what all of that meant.

The Sanctuary will eventually be a much more complex piece with the addition of standing pieces that  will be located in front of and close to the wall installation shown here.

Anyway this is the start of the Sanctuary and basically how it came about in the studio from paper model to cut and painted sintra.
